EDEquity Achievement Award

EDEquity Inc., California’s premier educational consultant firm, would like to honor schools whose staffs work day in and day out to create a culturally relevant and relational learning environment to foster academic excellence in their African American students.

Annually we will be looking to recognize and honor schools whose African American student achievement, based on NCLB annual measurable objectives (AMOs) in English Language Arts and mathematics, ranks in the top 20% of designated grade level spans. Moreover, it is our sincerest pleasure and honor to highlight high achieving schools for African American students statewide.

The following criterion was used to determine the schools that are eligible for the award.  The top 20% of schools at the elementary, middle and high school levels are highlighted.  All schools listed below will receive the EDEquity Inc., Achievement Award Recognition.

Eligibility Criteria:

Elementary, Middle, or High Schools who met their English Language Arts and Mathematics participation rates for the African American subgroup per NCLB definitions (see the California Department of Education’s definition in the 2005-06 Adequate Yearly Progress Report).

1

A minimum of 40 percent of the African American student subgroup meeting Criteria I who scored at the proficient and advanced levels on the California Standards Test (CSTs) and who have met the designated AMO in English Language Arts and Mathematics in grades 2-8.

2

A minimum of 40 percent of the African American student subgroup meeting Criteria I who scored at the proficient and advanced levels on the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) and who have met the designated AMO in English Language Arts and Mathematics in grades 10.
