Equity Walks™ has been developed from a body of research from cognitive
coaching and peer coaching. The Association of California School Administrators
(ACSA) has garnered Equity Walks™ as a statewide “best practice” for
providing a non-threatening approach for teacher-leaders and instructional
coaches to observe students and refine classroom delivery. Some of the key
observational tools we use in the Equity Walks™ are: At-Task, Selective
Verbatim, Verbal Flow, and Physical Movement. The protocol is a data-driven
approach to enhance the instructional coaching cycle.
